Summer is good for a lot of things – barbecues, reconnecting with old friends, drinking colorful and fruity drinks… you get the gist! In preparation for those long Summer days (we swear they should be here soon), we wanted to make a drink that was equal parts fun and stylish with a substantial punch.
Cue the Tequila Sunrise. It’s cool. It’s refreshing. It has OJ in it, so you can totes drink it with brunch. It’s basically the best. It’s also named after its appearance, which quite literally looks like a sunrise thanks to layers of orange juice and grenadine. A cocktail this pretty demands to be tried. So grab your ingredients and let’s get started.
You will need…
- Orange juice
- Maraschino cherries (to garnish)
Step one: tequila
First, put one shot of tequila in each glass.
Step two: OJ
Now, fill each glass to the top with orange juice. We prefer no pulp for cocktails, but whatever you prefer is A-OK.
Step three: grenadine
Almost there! Pour some grenadine in each glass. It will sink to the bottom and create those beautiful peachy layers. It’s kind of fantastic to watch. Grab your phone. This shot is Insta-perfect.
Step four: garnish
You did it! Look how perfectly it turned out. Give yourself a hand. Now all you need to do is thread some cherries onto a toothpick or straw and lay it across the top of your glass. Gorgeous. If you’re feeling adventurous you can try your hand at a citrus peel twist or a slice of orange.
Cheers – happy sipping!
